VelocityX features flexible format and codec support, including HDV, DV, MPEG-2, MXF and more. VelocityX also supports the .dps file format from VelocityQ and .ltv media files from VelocityHD, making it easy to exchange both compressed and uncompressed media between VelocityX and its hardware-based siblings. EDL, OMF and AAF import and export also make it easy to interchange projects with other editing systems and post production tools for collaborative work.

In the Studio or On the Road
VelocityX is perfect for VelocityQ or VelocityHD customers needing a laptop editor for field editing, or looking to expand their operations with additional low-cost editing seats for offline work or online projects with lower performance requirements. Project file compatibility between all three platforms allows a project to be started on VelocityX, then transferred to VelocityQ or VelocityHD for high-performance finishing, taking advantage of the hardware power of those platforms. Compatibility with VelocityQ and VelocityHD’s media file formats also allows users to move complete projects and media from these hardware-based solutions to VelocityX for further editing.

Intuitive, Flexible and Customizable Interface
VelocityX’s timeline interface is both powerful and flexible, with a wide range of features that increase productivity, enhance the editing interface and workflow, and make it easy to quickly become proficient with VelocityX’s extensive feature set. Video and audio tracks can be independently scaled, muted, soloed and hidden, with A/X/B and single-track timeline transition modes selectable separately for each video track. VelocityX supports multiple timelines and galleries, plus multi-clip editing, enabling edits and effects to be applied to multiple clips simultaneously.

Editing can be done directly on the timeline or through the Trim Window. The Trim Window offers a choice between three-window (in/out/preview) and two-window (source/record) trimming styles, with 3 and 4-point edit modes including insert, overlay, slip, slide, and fit-to-fill. Mouse-based drag-and-drop, fully configurable keyboard controls and optional external hardware controllers let you choose your favorite control method and style of editing. User profiles allow multiple users easy access to their preferred configuration settings.

VelocityX includes all of the popular features that have made our hardware-based solutions multiple award winners, including integrated multi-camera editing; easy visual reference with the unique EyeCon View timeline interface tool; customizable, keyframeable transitions and effects, including variable speed changes, transparency, masks and “garbage mattes”, keying and DVE; keyframeable color correction, including three-way color-wheels, curves, color matching, secondary color correction and automatic white and black re-balance; rolling and crawling titles; advanced audio features with DirectShow and .VST plug-in support; and many, many more.
