Overview
ivsRecode is an advanced tool for converting the most common SD and HD audio/video file formats (AVI, MPEG, MOV, MXF, WMV, HDV, MP4) into the DVA and DPS formats, with a level of quality, flexibility and speed that could not be obtained from any other tool or from the Reality and Quattrus hardware. It converts a one-hour MPEG-2 or VOB file in less than 5 minutes (about 50 times faster than Velocity 8), and its “Play and Edit while Rec” feature lets you add and edit a DPS/DVA clip on any Velocity (8.2 or higher) timeline without waiting for the conversion to finish.
Quality, speed and flexibility
Quality. IVS developed a new, more advanced JPEG codec fully compatible with the Reality and Quattrus hardware and software. It produces DPS files that are cleaner and lighter on disk than those made with the old DPS software codec or with the Zoran chipset used by all Reality and Quattrus cards.
Speed. The ivsRecode engine is both very accurate and very fast. It is optimised for multi-core and multi-CPU systems: a Core i7 920 workstation converts an SD MPEG-2 file at nearly 16x real time (440 fps).
Flexibility. “Play and Edit while Rec” creates fixed-size DPS and DVA files that can be collected and edited immediately in any version of VelocityQ and VelocityHD while each clip is still being converted: even with a one-hour MPEG-2 file, editing can begin right away.
